Mayor Announces 2013 Street Reconstruction Project

Mayor Carlo DeMaria is pleased to announce that the City has received competitive bids for the 2013 street reconstruction project as outlined by the Pavement Management Program. 

Utilizing monies bonded from the FY13 Capital Improvement Program, the following streets have been scheduled for complete reconstruction:

Autumn Street, Oliver Street, Union Street, Arlington Street, Villa Ave, Elm Street, Chestnut Street, Chestnut Place, Vine Street, Church Street, Devens Street, K K Terrace, Linden Street, Norwood Street, Union Ave, Garden Street, Vine Street, and W 3rd Street.

The scope of the project includes complete road rehab, new sidewalks, the installation of granite curbing, assurance of handicap accessibility, the planting of street trees, minor drainage improvements, and other related enhancements.  The original estimate for the entirety of the job was projected at just over $3million.  However, The Mayor is pleased to report that the current lowest bidder, J. Marchese & Sons of Everett, came in with a bid of $2, 446,473.28.   

The City is currently completing the paperwork and anticipates executing the contract with J. Marchese & Sons, with the goal of beginning construction in the next few weeks.
